Indications

Multiple uses, but in rheumatic disease patients, most often used in the treatment of mild lupus, reactive arthritis, and uveitis

Side Effects

Nausea, abdominal cramping, headache, dizziness, and fatigue are the most commonly reported side effects but if present are generally mild and well-tolerated

Monitoring

None recommended

Important Points to Know

This medication should be taken with meals to decrease stomach upset. Transferring from lying to sitting positions slowly will decrease potential dizziness or sudden changes in blood pressure that can occur with bromocriptine.
